Clearly, with its RX 9000, AMD has struck a blow and taken advantage of NVIDIA’s weakness, with its non-existent stocks and ridiculously high prices. As we’ve seen, at launch AMD managed to grab a 45% market share, particularly in Japan. Another figure we’ve heard mentions 200,000 cards sold– in short, a launch that’s going well… So well, in fact, that it’s crushing the RX 7000 by far!
RX 9000: AMD sold 10x more cards at launch than the previous generation!
Briefly, Lise Su, the current CEO of AMD, answered an interview conducted by Tony Yu, the head of ASUS’ Chinese branch. During the exchange, there were questions about artificial intelligence and the Ryzen AI and RADEON AI products. However, the conversation also veered towards the launch of the RX 9000 and how the CEO saw the situation.
On this subject, Lisa Su seems delighted, as the launch seems to have gone well, with a large number of sales. Indeed, she’s quick to point out that the company has sold 10x more cards than the previous generation (the RX 7000). Of course, the figures are to be compared after one week’s sales in both cases. This shows just how convincing AMD’s cards have been to the public, with Su saying, “We like to see people happy. People are happy with the RX 9070 XT…”
For this launch, it must also be said that the Reds have gone to great lengths to ensure that there are plenty of cards in stock, but not enough. The price, compared to the competition, is also good, while the performance follows suit, all supported by AI-based technologies such as FSR4… Which, by the way, is far from bad, allowing the Reds to take on the Greens with a vengeance! So, a well-deserved success for the Reds? Clearly, the public seems convinced.
