A New Member Of NVIDIA’s SFF-Ready Enthusiast GeForce Cards

The RTX 5070 is now a familiar card, however you might not have run into Gigabyte’s EAGLE OC ICE SFF 12G version and you might bot have heard of NVIDIA’s new love for dainty GPUs.  The trend for some time has been big cards, over a foot long and three slots high as coolers grow to try to move the heat produced by high end GPUs.  This is a challenge for those that prefer to build small form factor systems, the choice of cards which will fit inside SFF cases and don’t make a mini-ITX board look like a daughter board attached to the GPU has been limited.

NVIDIA’s SFF-Ready program looks to change this by giving cards no larger than 2.5 slots deep, 151mm high including the power cable bend radius, and 304mm maximum length.  This means you can tell at a glance which cards would be appropriate for a SFF build.  You can then check the exact measurements of cards and match them to your build.   The question remains as to what impact this might have on performance.

The FPS Review tested the RTX 5070 EAGLE OC ICE SFF 12G and found the size didn’t impact performance in any noticeable way.  The slimmed down model matched the performance of the full fat versions and was able to beat the RX 9070 OC Gaming in most tests.  They also managed a respectable overclock, which you can see in that review,
