Skyblivion is a fan recreation of Oblivion, the fourth The Elder Scrolls game, inside the newer Skyrim engine. Expert modders have been working on this project since 2016, and in a recent YouTube video, an almost complete version of the game was showcased along with the progress details of landscaping, interiors, 3D assets, quests, and music.

So, it goes without saying that fans of the franchise are hyped and highly anticipating the release of this game. Here is what we know.

What’s new with Skyblivion?

The team behind Skyblivion said: “We’re finalizing the world map, with only the Nibenay region on Cyrodiil’s eastern border left to complete. Massive swathes of the map are ready for the Hero of Kvatch to explore.”

After that, details regarding different areas were given, and the only regions left were the Nibenay Valley, with 268 out of 300 cells completed and navmesh progress at 75%. Navmesh is the process of helping AI players or NPCs navigate the landscape by providing them with simplified routes and views of the game.

Besides that, Nibenay Basin has 289 out of 674 cells completed, and navmesh has yet to start. In addition, 312 cells have been completed to accommodate altering terrains and expanding cities, which should also provide a better exploration experience to the player. Overall, the Cyrodiil landscape has been completed by 93%, with 44% of the area having been navmeshed.

To speed up the process of completing this title, the team has asked expert modders to volunteer. If you’d like to help and have relevant experience, you can apply on the Skyblivion website.

A key point to remember is that the material from the expansions will initially not be included. However, once the base game has been released, the team will focus on how to bring the content from DLCs into Skyblivion and will share more information then.
