Back in October, a new rumor claimed that AMD is preparing to release an upgraded version of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D: the 9850X3D. This came as a surprise if you thought the 9000X3D lineup was all said and done and AMD had no plans for another processor. And now, another leak has further confirmed its existence, as well as its TDP.

The previous leak claimed that the Ryzen 7 9850X3D would have the same number of cores and threads as the 9800X3D (8 and 16), along with the same 96MB L3 cache. However, it would feature a higher boost clock of up to 5.6 GHz, which would help it deliver better gaming performance. The TDP was also the same at 120W, meaning you wouldn’t need to upgrade your PSU.

120W confirmed in shipping data, 5.6GHz boost clock & 96MB cache also spotted

Now, a new shipping manifest leak shared by Olark29 on X has further confirmed that the 9850X3D will indeed have a 120W TDP. This would make it a better option for anyone wanting improved performance within the same power range, but a lot will depend on its final price.

Specification Ryzen 7 9800X3D Ryzen 7 9850X3D (rumored/leaked)
Cores 8 8
Threads 16 16
Boost clock speed 5.2GHz 5.6GHz
Base clock speed 4.7GHz 4.7GHz
L3 Cache 96MB 96MB
TDP 120W 120W

On top of the 120W confirmation, there were also some 9850X3D benchmarks uploaded to Geekbench recently. These benchmarks confirm the 5.6GHz boost clock speed and 96MB of L3 Cache.

Currently, there are no leaks or rumors about pricing. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D launched with an MSRP of $479, and it currently sells for anywhere between $449 and $479. AMD might launch the 9850X3D with a similar price tag, which could cause the 9800X3D to drop slightly. However, they could also add $20-$30 more to its price due to the higher boost clock. We should warn you of rumored CPU price hikes, too, so it’s difficult to determine exact price points right now.

The release date isn’t confirmed yet, but rumors suggest it could arrive in early 2026, which points towards an announcement at CES 2026. Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 was also spotted in the previous leak, but we’re yet to see anything new on the new flagship CPU.
